This classic flow ride is one for the ages and has been a favorite among Sedona locals for decades. The ride begins with a mellow ascent up Long Canyon Trail for spectacular views of Mescal Mountain and Maroon Mountain throughout. The next leg of the adventure initiates an uphill ascent of Deadman’s Pass as the rider overcomes technical rock benches and loose trail to reach the gorgeous outlay of Long Canyon’s most brilliant rock formations and hidden (but visible) heritage sites directly from the path.
After reaching the summit of Deadman’s Pass Trail, riders are gifted with some of the most unique flow-tech riding in Sedona with a wide enough path and substantial enough terrain features to allow you to choose your own path of adventure; ranging from moderate to black diamond passages. The surrounding views of Deadman’s Pass are notable & unique, as the colors transition throughout the day, and water flows down the 300ft & 400ft seasonal waterfalls after recent precipitation. The transition into Aerie Trail comes with an abundance of spectacular berm riding and allows riders to test their gravity along the cutty corners of the trails grippy features.
As the ride progresses, the trail begins a steady intermittently technical climb to the middle of Doe Mountain to achieve excellent elevated views of Fay Canyon, Bear Mountain, Secret Mountain, Casner Mountain, and Loy Butte in the Distance. As the path circles Doe Mountain the trail narrows to provide and edgy experience with plated technical features and armored passages to make for secure crossings of steep washes and cascading hills. The trail later joins Cockscomb Trail, where it winds up a steady uphill section before delivering a heavy dose of flowy and fast terrain features that meander their way to cascading hills.
After a couple of ups and downs along the red rock moguls, the trail will connect with Dawa for a glide and ride section of trail that eventually leads you to Boynton Pass Road and Dry Creek Road for a short ¼ mile ride on the blacktop back to your starting point. This moderate loop has long been considered a Sedona favorite, and for all the right reasons!! It offers playful terrain features, avoids black diamond difficulty, and delivers amazing views with adventurous trails for the entire ride.
