This spectacularly scenic lollipop loop ride takes you across some of the most inspiring territory in Sedona, as you are surrounded by Twin Buttes, Streaker Spire, Christianity Spire, Crown Butte, Gibraltar Rock, Lee Mountain, Courthouse Butte, Bell Rock, Castle Rock, and Cathedral Rock for a panoramically stimulating experience throughout. The trail offers several variants to increase or decrease the rides difficulty based upon your abilities, energy levels, and the trail conditions. You will begin with a glide down Bell Rock Pathway, where you will encounter many opportunities to catch air and can get "Dukes of Hazzard" feels while you power through corners and slingshot over obstacles through the mellow terrain.
For increased technical pleasure, our guides can transition into the more pumpy Phone Trail, to allow you an opportunity to challenge yourself and attack some fun cascaded uphill climbs, before reconnecting to the main path. The next section of riding begins on Courthouse Butte, as the trails skirts Munds Mountain Wilderness and soon connects with Big Park Loop. This section proves to be the highlight of the ride as it drops and tops some rock-plated wash crossings and lightly technical uphill climbs.
All the while the ride remains easy and doable for most riders of introductory level of experience. To be honest, we all started here and mastered this area before moving onto more difficult rides in Red Rock Country. This entire series of trails provides an abundance of enjoyable riding with minimal exposure and the easiest terrain in town.
After smiling your way through Big Park Loop, the trail will reconnect with Bell Rock Pathway to provide a glorious view of Bell Rock and the northern rock features of Sedona. The remaining adventure will offer repetitive sections of low angle uphill and downhill riding. The choice is yours and the pleasure is ours to share one of the best beginner rides in Northern Arizona with you.
The deep meditation this loop offers creates long passages for mental relaxation and clarity. If you want to try mountain biking for the first time, or you’re seeking something fun and mellow -- we highly recommend checking out this special ride across the sacred lands Red Rock Country.
